Veroriana Kareancugu, born in 1958, is a widow with seven grown children. She owns 4 acres of land, where she grows crops such as pigeon peas, maize, millet, and sorghum. Veroriana’s living conditions are modest, with two mud houses, and a separate kitchen structure. She also keeps a small number of livestock, including chickens, goats, and donkeys.
Through the income she earns from making baskets, she has been able to purchase additional livestock, including chickens and a goat. Veroriana's involvement in basket making has not only provided financial support but also allowed her to enjoy a productive craft, giving her a sense of fulfillment. While she has no significant health issues, she enjoys the satisfaction of improving her home and providing for her family through her craft.
Veroriana’s aspirations for the future are focused on the success and well-being of her children and grandchildren. She hopes to see them achieve great success in life and live prosperous lives. Veroriana is grateful for the opportunities she has gained through the project, expressing her appreciation for the support and blessings she has received. She is content with her work, finding joy in the act of making baskets, and is thankful to those who buy her baskets, wishing them blessings in return.
