Sabella Karauki

Sabella Karauki is married with five boys. There have been times when her husband is not trustworthy, and he’s stolen from the home. She says at home, there is often chaos, but being around a confident and talented group of women has been extremely supportive and brought lots of joy to her during the tough moments.

Sabella feels so proud that making baskets has allowed her to be, (as she puts it) ‘the man of the house,’ and 70 percent of what she puts towards her home comes from the profit she makes from her baskets. She’s been able to update her home, buy animals, and pay school fees. She is happy to feel independent and that she no longer has to ask others for help since she started making.
