Gaudenzia Kangai

Gaudenzia Kangai is married with three daughters and one boy. She went to school for a few years when she was young before her father died, and their lack of school fees pushed her out. From the sales of her baskets, Gaudenzia has done many updates to her home such as installing a gutter system for collecting rainwater, buying solar lamps and water tanks, along with buying utensils, livestock, and paying school fees for her kids.

When their farming is successful and they can sell, it is easy to keep her kids sustained in school. However, the dry season makes it much tougher because they tend to suffer from not having enough food. She tells us she works very hard to keep making baskets to keep her children in school despite the challenge of food. In years to come, she would love to construct a better house and kitchen for her children and buy more land.
